Born in Denver, Colorado, Richee became one of the leading portrait photographers working with major film studios, especially Paramount Pictures, where he helped shape the visual image of stars in the 1920s through the 1940s.Richee joined Paramount’s portrait department in the early 1920s, eventually becoming head of the studio’s portrait studio. His work defined Paramount’s glamour photography style, and he produced memorable promotional portraits of many of the era’s most famous actors and actresses, including Louise Brooks, Clara Bow, Marlene Dietrich, Carole Lombard, Gloria Swanson, and many others. His portraits were noted for their soft, diffused lighting and elegant compositions, helping publicize films and craft the star images that defined Hollywood’s glamorous public face. After a long tenure at Paramount, Richee continued his photographic career with work for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) and Warner Bros., where he shot both publicity stills and production portraits through the 1940s.Though not as widely celebrated in later histories as some of his contemporaries, his contributions to Hollywood portraiture remain a significant part of the visual legacy of classic American cinema. He died in Orange County, California, in Nissen (November 30, 1906 – May 10, 1988) was a Norwegian-American actress and dancer who gained prominence in Hollywood during the late silent and early sound film eras. Known for her striking beauty, elegance, and European sophistication, she appeared in a variety of romantic dramas and musicals, becoming one of the notable international stars of the 1920s and 1930s.Born in Kristiania (now Oslo), Norway, Nissen began her career as a dancer before transitioning to film. She moved to the United States in the mid-1920s and signed with Paramount Pictures, where her combination of acting talent and screen presence allowed her to secure leading roles. Nissen’s delicate features and graceful demeanor made her a favorite for romantic and glamorous parts in both silent films and early talkies.Among her significant films were The Love Parade, directed by Ernst Lubitsch, and Broadway Nights, which showcased her dancing and acting abilities. She was originally cast in the role of Princess Anna in the 1930 version of King of Jazz, but her Norwegian accent limited her opportunities in some sound films, a common challenge for foreign actors during the early talkie era.Nissen gradually retired from acting in the late 1930s and lived a private life in the United States. She is remembered for her contributions to early Hollywood, representing the wave of European talent that helped define the glamour and international appeal of the film industry during its formative years.
