Original 1922 MEH LADY – Volume XIII, the yearbook of Mississippi State College for Women in Columbus, Mississippi.
Published by the Senior Class in 1922, this is an uncommon piece of early 20th-century women's education and Mississippi history, filled with period photographs, student biographies, campus buildings, organizations, class activities and college life.
Of particular historical interest is a full League of Women Voters page, published only two years after ratification of the 19th Amendment gave women the constitutional right to vote nationwide.
Other contents shown include:
• Individual student portraits and biographies
• Senior and junior classes
• Class officers
• Campus/building photographs
• Student organizations and activities
• Period fashions and hairstyles
• Humorous artwork and candid photographs
• Mississippi students as well as students from other communities
Large hardcover volume measuring approximately 12" tall.
CONDITION: Antique pre-owned condition with substantial age and storage wear. There is visible water staining/moisture discoloration along portions of the upper margins and elsewhere, as clearly shown in the photographs. Cover has considerable rubbing, scuffs, edge/corner wear and surface loss. Interior pages show age toning, staining and other age-related wear. Binding also shows age/wear. Please examine all photographs carefully for the best representation of condition.
Despite the condition issues, the photographs, portraits and printed material remain highly interesting and displayable.
An excellent original research piece for collectors of Mississippi history, women's history, genealogy, college memorabilia, early photography and 1920s social history.
This is the actual 1922 yearbook shown in the photographs — not a reproduction.
