Historical Notes
Built in 1907, the Polk County Courthouse is one of northwestern Minnesota's landmark civic buildings. While postcards depicting the courthouse are collectible, this example is much more unusual because the sender personalized it by attaching an actual photographic portrait. Personalized "photo-added" postcards from the early 1900s are considerably scarcer than standard view postcards and appeal to collectors of social history, genealogy, and early photography.
