John Singer Sargent (1856–1925)
“The Misses Wertheimer”
Antique early-20th-century photogravure after Sargent’s celebrated 1901 portrait of Ena and Betty Wertheimer.
This large-format print appears consistent with the plates issued in The Work of John S. Sargent, R.A., published in London by William Heinemann and New York by Charles Scribner’s Sons in 1903. That publication included The Misses Wertheimer among its plates and was issued in a large approximately 45 cm folio format; special portfolio sets included photogravure plates.
