Original antique stereoview titled “Broadway, from Barnum’s Museum, showing portion of Park Barracks”, published by E. & H. T. Anthony & Co., New York (Anthony’s Instantaneous Views, No. 893). This lively urban scene captures a busy stretch of Broadway in New York City during the mid-to-late 19th century.
The image looks down a bustling street filled with pedestrians, horse-drawn wagons, and early street activity. Prominently visible is a small triangular building in the foreground, with larger multi-story commercial buildings lining the avenue. Flags, signage, and storefronts add to the sense of motion and daily life. The reference to Barnum’s Museum—one of New York’s most famous 19th-century attractions—adds historical significance, as the museum was a major cultural landmark before its destruction by fire in 1865 (and later rebuilding).
The card measures approximately 6.75 x 3.25 inches and is mounted on a classic yellow Anthony mount, a well-known publisher of American stereoscopic views. The reverse carries the full printed Anthony imprint from 501 Broadway.
Condition: Moderate toning, scattered spotting, and edge wear consistent with age. Slight corner wear and surface marks visible. Image remains strong with good detail in the architectural and street elements.
A highly collectible New York City stereoview featuring Broadway street life, Barnum’s Museum reference, and classic Anthony imprint—appealing to collectors of NYC history, early photography, and urban scenes.
