Old Bets (Hazaintewin) was one of the most recognizable and frequently photographed Native American figures in 19th-century Minnesota history. Known for assisting local settlers during the U.S.–Dakota War of 1862, her image became widely distributed in frontier photography. Photographed in Charles A. Zimmerman\'s St. Paul studio, this stereoview is an authentic piece of early Minnesota and Native American history.
Good antique condition overall. The albumen prints display strong contrast and rich tone with minor age-appropriate surface wear and light toning. The mount exhibits light corner rounding/bumping and minor edge wear consistent with age. Printed text in borders remains clean and legible.
