Each check was drawn on the Merchants National Bank of Burlington and retains an orange two-cent U.S. Internal Revenue stamp.
The checks include payments to E. O. Mead / Ellery O. Mead, William M. Spooner, Joseph Demar, and R. S. Taft, along with a check payable to William J. Mead himself.
