A fantastic piece of vintage Christmas handicraft, this sparkling tabletop tree is built tier by tier from metal safety pins and hundreds of faceted green beads. Colorful accent beads resemble tiny ornaments, while gold chenille garland winds around the tree and a wonderfully detailed beaded star finishes the top. Even the base is fashioned from clear and white beads, giving the entire piece that delightfully elaborate, handmade look.
This style of beaded safety-pin Christmas tree was popular during the 1960s and 1970s and was offered by LeeWards and other period craft-kit companies. This example may have originated from a LeeWards or similar kit, although no original packaging or paperwork remains to verify the maker.
Approximately 10” tall. It has been in storage and may benefit from additional careful cleaning. The tree is in very nice vintage condition overall, with no major issues or concerns. It is somewhat flexible and slightly wobbly in shape due to the nature of its safety-pin and bead construction. Photos are part of the condition reporting.
A fabulous addition to an MCM Christmas collection, retro holiday display, or grouping of vintage handmade ornaments and decorations.
