This “Burning Embers” or “Red Embers” almandine garnet specimen has one nice sized garnet visible in the matrix. It weighs 34g.
The term "burning embers garnet" (or "red embers garnet") refers to vibrant, highly translucent almandine garnets extracted from the Red Embers Mine (formerly the Two Fat Guys Mine) in Erving, Massachusetts. When backlit, these raw stones glow with a fiery, neon-red brilliance that famously mimics glowing coals or burning embers. These specific stones are highly prized by mineral collectors and gem enthusiasts for a few key reasons:
The garnet is embedded within a striking graphite schist matrix.
Specimens have to be meticulously chiseled and air-abraded to remove excess rock from the front and back, allowing light to pass directly through the garnet.
I’m not in business so I don’t have new items coming in. I’m recently retired and downsizing by selling my mineral collection. I do have a big mineral collection that is slowly going out on so if this isn’t what you want check back later for something different.
