Swedish Model 1867-89 Remington measuring 21\" overall with a 1.75\" socket with a inside socket diameter of .615\". These scarce pieces were used on the 8mm M1867-89 rolling block rifles. These were conversion of the M1867 socket bayonet that was used with the 12.17mm Remington Rolling Block Rifle. 102,000 conversions were done where the old socket was removed and brazing a new socket in place. The work is plainly visible below the socket on both sides. A very historical piece because it is the only socket bayonet to incorporate a coil spring press-stud.Socket is stamped, \"J.B.\" with crown over \"C\", opposite side is stamped, 8281. The press stud is in excellent working condition, the metal shows 80%+ original bluing with some rust/patina mostly on the elbow area. We have not attempted to clean it. Quadrangular blade, sharp point. The scabbard shows no holes and the brass end is securely in place. The leather shows age patina with some scattered fine cracking.
