This is an official, 1940's era, Swing Symphony Dog character paper sketch that has been hand-drawn and signed by Walter Lantz. The sketch of the dog playing the flute is from one of Walter Lantz's famous musical Swing Symphony or Musical Miniatures theatrical cartoon shorts from the 1940s. Walter was an American cartoonist, animator, producer and director best known for founding Walter Lantz Productions and creating Woody Woodpecker. Walter has personally hand-drawn this sketch in red wax pencil and then has personally signed the sketch in grey pencil with an every letter autograph. The paper sketch measures 4.75x6.75". It has some light aging, a couple light random ripples and a tiny tear on the top. Is overall in good condition considering its age. Also included are 3 more ORIGINAL sketches by Lantz of various other related characters, but these are not signed. Please note that these are all one-of-a-kind sketches from the same collection, but only one of the four he has signed.
In addition, this has also been professionally authenticated by 1 of the most respected and trusted companies in the business, approved James Spence Authentication (JSA). Comes with the JSA COA #CT94071(Included with the Basic Cert program is a 3" x 5" James Spence Authentication registration card (see scan) printed with a unique certification number corresponding to the alpha-numeric tamper evident label.
