U.S. M1917 Doughboy helmet featuring a textured olive-brown finish and a painted blue arrowhead with a central T, the distinctive emblem of the 36th Division. The broad-brimmed steel shell, surviving liner components, and leather chinstrap give this helmet a striking period appearance for a military headgear collection. Its construction is consistent with WWI manufacture; the date of the painted emblem has not been established. A partially legible shell stamp is present, but no manufacturer or individual service history is attributed to this helmet.
The helmet shows paint loss, cracking and flaking of the painted finish, surface oxidation, and wear to the emblem. The liner is incomplete and torn, with broken netting and deteriorated padding exposed at the crown. The leather has substantial cracking, abrasion, and weakened edges; the chinstrap is present but is not represented as complete or functional. Offered as a historical collectible, not protective equipment. The sale includes the single helmet with its remaining interior components and leather strap as photographed; the display head and stand are not included. Please review the exterior and interior photographs for condition.
This is an historical artifact from the First World War era, and therefore shows natural wear and tear resulting from age and regular use during the period.
