Complete original WWI M1910 Haversack with matching Pack Tail — standard field pack of the American Doughboy. Shuttle-loomed khaki canvas duck, blackened steel hardware, brass grommets, leather reinforcements. Period-matched pair: haversack stamped P.B.&Co 4-1918 (lot 5033); pack tail P.B.&Co 5-1918 (lot 5145) — original set, not a later marriage.Named and unit-marked: flap stenciled "1ST.LT / U.S. / CO F.124" — 1st Lieutenant, Co. F, 124th Infantry. The 124th served in the 31st "Dixie" Division (FL/AL/GA NG), trained at Camp Wheeler and shipped to France in 1918, where the division was broken up at Brest and its men fed forward as replacements.Condition: Honest, unmolested. Canvas has good body and tone, light soiling, small stains. All straps, buckles, D-rings, grommets, and leather coupling tab present and functional. Interior utensil sheath in place. One flaw: sewn hole for grommet closure of meat can flap (shown).
