Original WWI US Army Soldier Personal Effects & Ephemera Lot

Identified to: Huston H. Hogan — Company F, 3rd Depot Battalion

Home Address: 1303 Ellsworth Ave, Muskogee, Oklahoma

Up for sale is a fascinating, historically significant estate lot of original World War I personal military effects and ephemera. This grouping belonged to US Army soldier Huston H. Hogan of Muskogee, Oklahoma, who served in Company F, 3rd Depot Battalion. Depot Battalions were crucial mobilization units responsible for processing, equipping, and training raw draftees before assigning them to active combat divisions heading overseas.

This lot offers an incredible, deeply personal glimpse into the life of an individual doughboy and his comrades during the Great War.

What’s Included in This Lot:

  • Original Soldier’s Pocket Wallet / Service Organizer: A heavily weathered, dark canvas/oilcloth folding pocket organizer. This was a standard personal utility item used by servicemen to securely hold their letters, pay books, identification papers, and photos in camp and transit. Shows authentic wear, patina, and age.

  • Hand-Inscribed Alphabetical Index Address Book: A small, personal pocket address booklet featuring Hogan’s clean, handwritten signature on the inside cover reading: "Huston H. Hogan, 3rd Depot Bn. Co. F. 1303 Ellsworth Ave, Muskogee, Okla." The bottom of the booklet features a step-cut, intact A-Z alphabetical index tab system, historically used by soldiers to record the civilian contact info of their wartime friends.

  • Original Printed Military Unit Roster & Address List Page: A fragile, printed sheet layout containing a comprehensive column-based roster of fellow servicemen. Includes full names and exact home addresses from across the US (heavy concentrations from California, Colorado, Illinois, and Indiana). Fascinating piece for genealogical research.

  • WWI Panoramic "Yard-Long" Photo Fragments: Two original photo remnants from the era. One fragment captures a large formation of troops lined up on a dirt company street between wooden mobilization barracks. The second fragment features a formal seated unit portrait with the printed photographer/group ID marking "322-C" on the upper corner.

Condition Report:

This is an antique lot over 100 years old, sold strictly AS-IS in found, historical condition.

  • The wallet shows heavy creasing, minor fraying, and surface wear consistent with field use.

  • The paper documents and photos are quite fragile and brittle. They exhibit tearing, heavy fold lines, chipping at the margins, and fragmentation (particularly the panoramic photo segments, which have separated over time).

  • Please closely review all high-resolution photos provided to evaluate the exact condition details before offerding.

This is a wonderful addition to any WWI Militaria collection, local Oklahoma history archive, or panoramic photography display.

Shipping & Handling:

Will be packed with extreme care using rigid protective backing to ensure the fragile paper
