- 昭和十四年: Showa Year 14 (1939)
Provenance & History:
This historic piece was acquired on Iwo Jima by a U.S. Navy Sailor who was stationed on the island during and immediately following the historic 1945 battle. The Type 94 37mm anti-tank gun was a cornerstone of General Kuribayashi’s hidden bunker and cave defenses on the island. Because this pouch was stored deep within a protective fortification or transit chest, it survived the fierce naval bombardment and remains in remarkable field-used condition.
Condition:
Excellent, authentic battlefield-pickup condition for an 80+ year old military fabric item. The cloth shows natural aging with the stenciled ink remaining sharp and completely legible. The fabric is structurally sound with no major tears or rot with just a few stitches unraveled near the tip It has been kept in a smoke-free environment and left entirely uncleaned to preserve its historical integrity and value.
Please see the high-resolution photos for exact condition details. A spectacular, investment-grade artifact for any advanced WW2 Pacific Theater or Iwo Jima collector.
