WW2 Imperial Japanese Army Anti-Aircraft Artillery Document – Firing Correction:
$280.00

Description

Original Imperial Japanese Army wartime document, a firing correction calculation chart (射撃修正計算板) used by artillery units operating the Type 88 75mm field anti-aircraft gun (八八式七糎野戦高射砲) and the Type 89 anti-aircraft gun (八九式高射砲).

These large format charts (2 sheets) provide detailed ballistic correction factors, including:

  • Air pressure (気圧)
  • Temperature (気温 / 火薬温度)
  • Initial muzzle velocity (初速補正)
  • Altitude correction (高度修正量)
  • Fuse timing adjustments (信管分量修正)

Such correction tables were indispensable for artillery crews, allowing them to adjust firing data under changing battlefield conditions. Notes and pencil calculations by the original soldier are still visible, adding authenticity as a true field-used material.

📖 Historical Background:

  • Type 88 75mm AA Gun in 1928, it was the mainstay of the Imperial Japanese Army’s anti-aircraft defense throughout the 1930s and WWII. It was used both against aircraft and, in emergencies, as an anti-tank and field artillery weapon.
  • Type 89 AA Gun (八九式高射砲):
Introduced in 1929, it was employed to strengthen anti-aircraft networks around key industrial and military facilities.
  • Wartime Significance:
These correction charts are rare survivors of Japan’s wartime artillery training and operations. Because they were working documents used in the field, most were discarded or lost after the war.

Condition:

  • Original printed sheets, wartime production.
  • Signs of age, folds, stains, and handwriting notes.
  • Please check all photos for details.

Size (approx):

Each sheet about 60 × 40 cm (folded).
