Terrific old souvenir building ashtray of the Badlands Window in the Badlands National Monument advertising Wall Drug, the legendary roadside attraction in Wall, South Dakota.
This ashtray is made of chalkware with a brownish sandstone finish. At the back of the round bowl is a replica of the famous opening in the rocks named the "Badlands Window". The ashtray is inscribed with all sorts of attention-grabbing lines reading "WALL DRUG - THE ICE-WATER STORE - MEET YOUR FRIENDS AT W.D. - BURROS FOR SALE AT WALL DRUG" and the center of the ashtray bowl has a map of the world with Wall Drug flagged in its location. The underside is marked by the maker "Copyright - Adrian Forrente(?) - Rapid City, So.Dak."
It measures 2" tall by 6" wide by 5" deep and weighs 1 lb.
This was in the 1950's-60's and is in very good condition with just a few small chips. A rare piece of Wall Drug history.
