Vtg US Coast Guard E8 Senior Chief Brass Ships Bell Connex Launched 1980 Plaque for sale

Up for sale is a unique and authentic piece of American military history: a Vintage

Solid Brass Commemorative USCG Unit Launch Ship's Bell. This beautifully crafted

artifact features deep-stamped engraving celebrating a milestone for "CONNEX '80"

on July 15, 1980.

PROVENANCE & MILITARY HISTORY:

This rare piece was discovered directly among the estate items of a retired, highly

distinguished United States Coast Guard Senior Chief Petty Officer (E-8) who served

from 1973 to 1999.

In maritime and military logistics, "Conex/Connex" refers to specialized, rugged

intermodal shipping containers. In the Coast Guard, crews frequently nicknamed custom

shore detachments or mobile command offices housed inside modified pier-side units

after these structures. This presentation bell was custom-commissioned to formally

"launch" and christen a Senior Chief’s specialized logistics unit or mobile base on

July 15, 1980. It represents a 46-year-old piece of dedicated Coast Guard history.

PRODUCT DETAILS & FEATURES:

• Deep-Stamped Engraving: Reads "CONNEX '88 / LAUNCHED 7-15-80" cleanly on the face.

• Dimensions: The bell measures just over 3.75 inches across the bottom diameter lip.

• Complete Presentation: Securely mounted to a rich, finished mahogany/wood plaque,

making it entirely ready to hang immediately on a wall, mantle, or marine display.

• Hardware Intact: Includes the original heavy brass mounting bracket, securing

screws, and a traditional nautical braided white lanyard rope attached to the clapper.

CONDITION:

Excellent vintage condition with robust mechanical functionality. The bell yields a

crisp, bright chime when struck. The brass retains a stunning, authentic aged patina

with minor localized oxidation and weathering spots that collectors highly desire—proving

its long military history. The wood plaque shows minimal wear and retains a glossy

finish. Please review all high-resolution photos for a precise look at the condition.

An exceptional find for USCG veterans, military historians, brass militaria collectors,

or anyone looking for a genuine piece of Coast Guard heritage for their home bar or office!

SHIPPING & HANDLING:

Will be packed securely with extra bubble wrap to ensure the heavy brass does not shift

during transit. Fast shipping with tracking provided.
