This vintage woven bamboo and rattan Ikebana vase features a porcelain ceramic liner inside to hold water as well as a wooden base. These vases are traditional Japanese floral vessels that became popular decor in the mid-to-late 20th century. These \"pineapple weave\" or multi-patterned basketry vases feature a thick lacquered finish over a heavy milk glass or ceramic insert popular during the 1970s-1980s. Hanakago is a Japanese term meaning \"flower basket\", particularly the bamboo variety used for flower arranging called Ikebana. These woven pieces have a rich tradition and are highly prized as both functional containers for Ikebana and fine art. In wonderful vintage condition, with no chips or fraying as seen in the pictures.
