Substantial vintage folk art sculpture hand carved from a wood stump, depicting a crouching, mustached man holding a barrel-like vessel, possibly a butter churn. Features an expressive face, shaggy carved hair, oversized hands, and visible chisel marks throughout. Warm brown tones and an aged, rustic surface give this piece plenty of character.
Measures approximately 12 inches tall and roughly 8 inches across, with an irregular rounded shape. Weighs approximately 7.5 pounds.
Incised markings are present underneath; maker and exact age are unknown. Vintage condition with visible wood splits, surface wear, and rough areas and openings around the vessel. Completeness of any original churn components is unknown. Please examine all photos closely for condition.
