Up for sale is a beautiful lot of two (2) vintage handcrafted Chinese folk art straw ornaments, featuring a detailed songbird and a vibrant scaled fish.
The bird features its original traditional vintage paper export label on the underside, marked "中国制造 / MADE IN CHINA" alongside the handwritten Art No. W103.
These delicate mid-century pieces are meticulously crafted using layered, intricately arranged dyed wheat straw elements to build up highly realistic textures:
• The Bird Figurine: Features gorgeous tonal layers of golden browns, blacks, and creams to realistically mimic feathers. Features wire legs wrapped in thread and a hanging loop.
• The Fish Figurine: Features vibrant green, yellow, and red dyed straw layered to create individual scales and detailed fins. Includes a red hanging loop.
Condition Details:
Both ornaments are in good vintage condition. Because these are delicate and handmade, there may be very minor frays to the edges of the straw common for items of this era, but they retain excellent structure and color vibrancy. Original label is intact but shows minor wear/aging as pictured.
