Vintage WWII-Era U.S. Army Air Forces Serviceman Portrait on Fabric – Framed
Unusual vintage color portrait depicting a young American serviceman wearing a military uniform, peaked service cap, and dark tie. The uniform features an eagle cap emblem and U.S. collar insignia, with details consistent with a World War II-era U.S. Army Air Forces uniform.
The portrait is presented on a thin, semi-translucent woven fabric with a visible textile texture. The image can also be seen from the reverse side of the material. It may be a printed or hand-colored textile portrait, but the exact fabric composition and artistic process have not been determined.
The portrait is housed in an older black wooden frame with a hanging cord.
Interesting original framing details: During inspection, multiple layers were discovered behind the portrait. From back to front, these consist of cardboard backing, a trimmed vintage Breck Girl shampoo advertisement, a sheet of brown paper, and the fabric portrait. All materials have been retained in the frame as condition with age-related wear and discoloration
