Jobey is one of those old names with a messy, well-traveled history. The brand appears to date to around the 1920s, with early English production, later substantial American production, and eventually manufacture in Saint-Claude, France.
The American era is where a lot of collectors know Jobey best. Weber Pipe Co. was involved with Jobey production, and the pipes were heavily sold through The Tinder Box in the 1970s and ’80s. Jobey also sourced Danish freehands, including pipes associated with Karl Erik Ottendahl, sold under the Jobey Dansk name.
One of the brand’s signatures is the Jobey Link, a threaded removable tenon system patented around 1970. It’s a pretty clever setup and shows up on a ton of Jobeys from the period.
Later production moved to Saint-Claude, with Jobey pipes made by the Butz-Choquin/Berrod-Regad operation from about 1987 onward.
Quality is all over the map because Jobey has been made by several different outfits, but the good ones are damn good pipes. The American-era pieces are sturdy, well-made smokers, and the Jobey Dansk freehands are a completely different level when you get one of the Karl Erik-associated examples.
Jobey isn’t rare, and the name doesn’t carry huge collector swagger, but there’s a ton of good pipe hiding under that little J. It’s one of those brands where knowing the era matters way more than knowing the name.

I combine shipping on orders over $40 in the continental US, just ask!
Measurements available upon request.
My shipping is a little more than some. I use UPS (unless it's going to a PO Box or non contiguous US) because UPS has a 98% success rate versus USPS at 87.5%. I have a dedicated UPS representative who goes above and beyond in the rare case there is a shipping issue. Three-ish dollars is worth the peace of mind in my opinion.
