Up for sale or buy-it-now is a beautiful, hard-to-find vintage pair of matching Skookum "Bully Good" Native American Indian character dolls. These are the highly desirable, larger display-scale variations that make an excellent centerpiece for any antique toy or Western Americana collection.
Included in this lot:
- 16" Indian Chief: Features a molded composition face with vibrant original paint, inset dark mohair braids, beaded necklace, and original accent feathers. He is wrapped in his original green, red, and blue geometric camp blanket.
- 14" Mother with Papoose: Features a matching molded face, a colorful multi-strand beaded necklace, and holds a sweet, smaller wrapped papoose baby doll under her left arm. She is wrapped in a cream and gray geometric camp blanket.
Condition Details:
Both dolls are structurally sound, stand evenly, and look excellent on display. The facial paint remains bright and crisp with rosy cheeks. The wool camp blankets are clean with sharp colors and show no significant moth holes or major fraying. The hair braids are intact. As shown in the close-up photos, both dolls feature the later molded/plastic shoes with colorful painted floral designs, indicating a late 1940s to 1950s production.
