Vintage original aviation illustration/artwork depicting a U.S. military McDonnell F-4 Phantom II jet with landing gear extended. This is not simply a photograph—the close-up images show visible hand-applied brushwork, highlighting, retouching and painted details throughout the aircraft and background.
The artwork is mounted as a professional publication/production layout, with masking/crop strips and handwritten sizing marks. A separate illustrated silhouette of what appears to be an aircraft carrier flight deck and equipment runs beneath the main aircraft image.
Approximately 10 x 8 inches. Mounted on vintage Crescent illustration board. The reverse is marked “PHOTO 1” and the board is identified as Crescent Illustration Board No. 300.
A very interesting piece of Cold War-era military aviation publishing artwork, especially for collectors of the F-4 Phantom, U.S. Navy aviation, original illustration art and vintage publishing material.
Vintage condition with production tape, crop markings, surface wear and other evidence of its original working use. Please refer to photographs for condition.
