Featuring a beautifully textured natural stone-like exterior contrasted with a deep black glazed interior, the vessel embodies the refined minimalist aesthetic associated with Kyoto. In some lights this looks dark gray, silver maybe a little blue, tan in the undertones and other lights it reflects much lighter. It is really pretty in any light.
Its elongated boat form was designed for traditional ikebana floral arranging while serving equally well today as a striking sculptural centerpiece.
The underside bears an impressed studio seal believed to be that of Morisato Tōraku.
