Original January 2, 1942, edition of the Cleveland News, published shortly after the attack on Pearl Harbor. This historic World War II era newspaper features a bold front-page headline: "JAPAN CAPTURES MANILA AS DEFENDERS FALL BACK." The issue provides a fascinating look at wartime reporting, including the 26 Nations Pledge and reports on the battle for the Philippines. Includes vintage advertisements from The Higbee Company and Halle Bros. Co., sports news featuring the Cleveland Barons, and local Ohio reports. A significant piece of ephemera for history buffs and WWII collectors.
