Beautiful vintage Indian hand-carved expanding book rack featuring intricate floral and foliate carvings, pierced latticework, and decorative floral inlay panels. The rack folds/expands and remains functional. The underside is stamped “INDIA.”
This piece has been well loved and does need some restoration. A previous owner applied wood glue in several areas, particularly along the lower edges, and there are visible repairs, glue residue, chips, splits, and areas of finish wear. Despite its condition issues, the carved decorative elements remain attractive and the rack still opens, closes, and functions as intended.
A great project piece for someone who appreciates handcrafted Indian woodwork and is willing to give it some restoration attention. Please review all photos carefully, as they show the condition and previous repairs.
