Rare Vintage Handcrafted Wooden Checkers Set in Original Box
Authentic Folk Art • 1980s • Full Set
This rare vintage checkers set is a powerful example of authentic handmade folk craftsmanship. Created in the 1980s, the pieces were hand-carved from natural wood and carefully finished by their maker, resulting in a timeless, minimalist design that feels both raw and deeply personal.
What makes this set truly special is its human story:
the checkers were crafted by an artisan while incarcerated in a correctional colony, where traditional handwork became a form of expression, patience, and quiet resistance to time. Each piece carries subtle variations, visible wood grain, and natural wear — making every checker unique.
The set comes in its original vintage cardboard box, preserved and intact, adding strong collectible value. A complete set, unaltered and untouched since its creation.
