vintage carved faux-bovine bone or resin Asian thimble, featuring the hand-incised Chinese character "福" (Fú) filled with traditional red lacquer pigment. The character directly translates to "Good Fortune," "Blessing," or "Happiness."
Up for sale is a unique vintage Asian-inspired sewing collector's thimble. This piece is crafted from a carved bone-style material (bovine bone or high-quality composite resin) showcasing a beautiful natural off-white grain texture.
The front of the thimble features the hand-incised Chinese character "福" (Fú), which represents "Good Fortune," "Blessing," and "Happiness." The carved character is filled with traditional deep red pigment. It features a smooth, concentric-ringed flat top rather than standard porcelain dimpling, characteristic of traditional Eastern thimble styles. A wonderful, cross-collectible piece for sewing historians, thimble enthusiasts, or collectors of Asian cultural novelty items.
