Item Description:
Up for sale is a rare, authentic 1930s American Art Deco pocket hip flask in the highly collectible "Shadow Ardt" geometric ray design. Manufactured by Bernard Rice's Sons under the Apollo line, this striking piece is a quintessential example of early 20th-century barware design.
Measures 7 X 4.5 inches
The flask is stamped on the arm with "Shadow Ardt", "REG.U.S.PAT.OFF.", and "EPBM" (Electroplated Britannia Metal), indicating a silver-plated finish over a premium pewter-like alloy base.
Key Details & Condition Notes:
- Design: The geometric, stylized ray lines on the front face remain crisp and perfect.
- Hinge Condition: Please note that the captive top swing-arm hinge mechanism is broken.
- Cap Condition: Despite the broken hinge arm, the screw-on cap itself is completely intact, screws down properly, and secures tightly/securely.
- Surface Wear: The flask shows signs of its age and honest vintage character. There is a slight dent on the front surface, along with scattered superficial scratches, typical silver tarnish/dirt, and honest finish wear.
This is a wonderful restoration candidate or a fantastic display piece for any collector of premium Art Deco barware, cocktail aesthetics, or vintage tobaccoriana. Please review the high-resolution photographs carefully to evaluate the exact condition and patina for yourself!
