Up for sale/sale is a fantastic, authentic pair of vintage 1970s UK Punk Rock pinback buttons. These are rare, early US-pressed promotional pieces capturing the dawn of the British punk explosion.
What’s Included:Pin 1 (Left): Features a classic, intense close-up photo of Johnny Rotten (John Lydon), frontman of the Sex Pistols.Pin 2 (Right): Features a highly rare early image of Pete Shelley and Howard Devoto, the founding duo of the seminal Manchester punk band Buzzcocks, captured around their 1976–1977 Spiral Scratch era.
Historical Context:These two pins represent the very heart of the 1976 UK punk explosion. Devoto and Shelley famously organized the legendary June 1976 Sex Pistols gigs at Manchester's Lesser Free Trade Hall, a musical turning point that directly inspired the birth of the Buzzcocks, Joy Division, and The Smiths.Manufacturing & Authenticity:The back of the Johnny Rotten pin features a crisp vintage stamped hallmark reading "MINIER, ILL 61759", indicating it was produced by a regional American novelty/merchandise company during the late '70s or early '80s boom of imported independent music culture.
