Vintage 1989 Ephemera Inc. Pinback Button – “It Must Be the Moon”
  • This vintage 1989 pinback button from Ephemera Inc. features a stylized crescent moon wrapping around the phrase “IT MUST BE THE MOON” in bold white lettering on a deep blue background. With a playful and mysterious tone, this design captures the late-’80s aesthetic and quirky humor that defined Ephemera’s popular button line.

  • Founded in San Francisco, Ephemera Inc. made a name for itself during the 1980s with its vibrant, offbeat, and often irreverent pinback buttons. Their work became a staple of alternative shops, queer bookstores, and street fairs. This moon-themed button plays with the idea of cosmic influence over daily oddities—tongue-in-cheek and iconic of the late-'80s Details:

-- Condition: Good vintage condition with light surface wear and rust/oxidation along the back and edges, including darkened spots near the bottom rim.
        -- Measurements: Approx. 1" diameter
-- Unique Aspects: Rim reads ©1989 Ephemera Inc.; classic lunar motif and sardonic phrase typical of the brand’s surreal humor. In an effort to avoid any misunderstandings, please note the following:
