Scarce vintage Oscar the Grouch Sesame Street table lamp featuring Oscar in his trash can beside a large tree, with his broom leaning against the trunk. The tree forms the lamp column, while the molded base depicts grass and a segmented sidewalk/curb.
The lamp measures approximately 11 3/4 inches tall at the lamp body and has a 5 1/4-inch diameter base.

Research into surviving Sesame Street lamps indicates that this design dates to approximately the late 1970s. A comparable Big Bird Sesame Street lamp has surfaced with a reported original 1979 inspection tag identifying Creators, Inc. of Chicago as the manufacturer. Because the original manufacturer label is no longer present on this Oscar example, I am describing the Creators, Inc. attribution as probable rather than confirmed.
Condition / originality: The Oscar figure, trash can, broom, tree and scenic base are present. Please examine all photographs carefully for paint wear and other signs of age. The felt covering on the underside is a replacement, and no original manufacturer label was found beneath the inspected area.
Important: The green pleated lampshade shown in the photographs is NOT the original shade. It was added by a previous owner because its shape resembles a tree canopy. It is included.
This appears to be a seldom-seen piece of early Sesame Street/Muppets licensed home decor and would make an unusual display piece for a Sesame Street, Jim Henson/Muppets, vintage toy or character-lamp collection.
