Original Vintage 1960s Bianchi And Margherita Restaurant Menu Opera New York City
Bianchi and Margherita was an Italian "opera a la carte" restaurant at 186 West 4th Street in Greenwich Village, run by Ercole Bianchi and Margherita Inzerillo, who had spent six years as a prima donna of the San Carlo Opera Company and fourteen years leading the singing at the Asti restaurant, the place that pioneered this opera-bar entertainment. It was an opera bar where the waiters, cooks, bartenders, hat-check girl and patrons all sang, with the chef closing the show by leading the ensemble in the Anvil Chorus from Verdi's "Il Trovatore." Alongside Italian pasta, steaks and chops, operatic selections were delivered in near-continuous performance. The restaurant was featured in the 1958 television series "Naked City."
It measures 9" x 3.75" closed and 11.25" x 9" open
