Vintage 1950s Camp Pendleton USMC RPPC Postcard Lot 4 San Luis Rey Gate lot of 4 original black-and-white real photo postcards (RPPCs) featuring U.S. Marine Corps Camp Pendleton, California. These appear to date from approximately the early 1950s and provide an excellent look at Camp Pendleton during the early post-WWII/Korean War era.
The lot includes:
* U.S.M.C. Camp Joseph H. Pendleton – Commanding General’s Quarters
* 11 Area – Camp Pendleton, Calif., showing base buildings and period automobiles
* Large formation of U.S. Marines, with military vehicles and troops assembled on the field
* San Luis Rey Gate – Camp Pendleton, Calif., featuring the Marine Corps gate sign and period vehicles
Camp Pendleton was established in 1942 and named for Major General Joseph H. Pendleton, an early advocate for establishing a major Marine Corps training base on the West Coast.
All four postcards are unused/unposted. One has a Kodak “Photo Post Card” back.
Condition:
Good vintage condition overall with normal age-related wear. Some toning, spotting/foxing, surface wear and minor edge/corner wear may be present. Please review all photos carefully for the exact condition of each postcard.
