Employee badge / 2 inches -Socony-Vacuum Oil Companywas a major American oil entity formed by the 1931 merger of Standard Oil Company of New York (Socony) and Vacuum Oil Company. It was a key predecessor to Mobil and ultimately ExxonMobil. Known for the Pegasus logo andMobilgas, it became a dominant global oil, lubricant, and gasoline supplier, later becoming Socony Mobil in 1955.
Back of badge is maker marked: WHITE HOAG - U.S. Patent Office date, August 1921. Whitehead and Hoag Company was a longtime badge maker for law enforcement, fire, military and other government agencies.
They were located at 101 First Street , Newark, New Jersey, circa 1910-1954.
Shows considerable wear consistent with age. True survivor.
