Antique Moor Mud Baths advertising letter opener from Waukesha, Wisconsin, believed to date to the early 20th century, likely circa 1910s–1930s.
The Moor Mud Baths opened with the Grand View Health Resort in Waukesha in 1911 and became a well-known health resort specializing in mud treatments promoted for rheumatism and other ailments. The facility remained in operation until 1961.
The ornate handle is embossed “MOOR MUD BATHS” and features a central medallion reading “Nature’s Treatment for Rheumatism,” with “Waukesha Wisconsin” at the base. Edge marked J.E. Mergott Co., a Newark, New Jersey manufacturer known for metal advertising novelties.
Measures approximately 8.5” long.
Antique pre-owned condition with original age-related patina, scratches, discoloration and surface wear, particularly to the blade. It has not been polished. Please review photos for exact condition.
