Some background from the internet:
George J. Song from Hawaii was stationed in Tokyo in 1955 and became familiar with the beautiful Hakata ceramics. Together with his brother in law they photographed several local Hawaiians to serve as models for a series of Hakata dolls. According to the research I have done less than 100 of each of these dolls in the series were produced in a two year period starting in 1955. They were sold at Liberty House, Schofield, and the Pearl Harbor PX.
Thank-you for looking!
