VINTAGE 1969 Topps WACKY ADS #12 NM BEAUTIFUL!!The 1969 Topps Wacky Ads set marked the second major chapter in the evolution of Topps\' legendary parody brand, building upon the success of the original 1967 Wacky Packages die-cut series with an all-new collection of humorous product spoofs. Consisting of 36 oversized die-cut cards, the set was designed to resemble miniature roadside billboards, each featuring a satirical advertisement for a fictitious consumer product such as Melty Way, Poopsi-Cola, Blunder Bread, and Cap\'n Crud. Unlike the earlier die-cuts, the Wacky Ads included larger illustrated backgrounds surrounding the removable parody product, with much of the artwork painted by Tom Sutton from concepts by Jay Lynch and Kim Deitch. Today, 1969 Topps Wacky Ads remains one of the most significant and sought-after releases in Wacky Packages history, bridging the gap between the original die-cut era and the immensely popular peel-and-stick sticker sets that followed in the 1970s.
