Please see my response. I have been selling amber fossils for over 15 years on anddo not sell fake amber only genuine material from now extinct plant sourcesnot glass or plastic embedded with present day inclusions. This piece is genuine amber formed over millions of years of polymerization.
This is a polished piece of Burmite (Burmese) amber that contains a super rare, blood sucking tick from the Cretaceous Period. Perhaps it fed on dinosaur blood?
Be aware that most people who offer ticks in amber are actually selling mites. This is a true hard tick.
This tick would have been on the Earth at the time of the dinosaurs including T-Rex and Triceratops!
According toSecrets of a Lost World: Dominican Amber and Its Inclusionsby Rafael Jie Chiang Wu, ‘ticks are classified into 2 families, hard ticks and soft ticks. They are rarely found in amber. Normally they parasitize mammals, birds, and reptiles. They are annoying pests and some are disease vectors. The number of mite and tick species rivals that of insects, and there may be thousands more to be identified.’
Geological studies have dated Burmite (Burmese) amber to be around 100 million years old.
The piece itself weighs 1.0 grams with approximate dimensions of 2.5 cmlength by1 cm width and 0.5 cm height. NOTE: 2.54 cm is 1 inch.
Burmese (Burmite)amber has been dated to be Cretaceous in age (around 100 million years old) and would have been sticky resin during the time of the dinosaurs.
When one realizes that this amber has been dated to around 100 million years old, it is something to see organisms from that time.

International Buyers: Please note that I ship using First Class Mail International.
A SPECIAL NOTE CONCERNING INTERNATIONAL BUYERS: Please understand that import duties, taxes and charges are NOT included in the selling price or shipping charges. These charges are the buyer\'s responsibility.
Please check your country\'s customs office to determine what these additional charges may be prior to offerding/buying.
I cannot guarantee delivery of your item in a set amount of time. Different country\'s customs offices take longer to process items than others do.
Lastly, I do not mark merchandise values below their true value or mark items as \"gifts.\" U.S. and International government regulations prohibit such behavior. Honesty is the best option.
I only sell genuine, all-natural, non-heat treated, reconstituted, or color enhanced amber. This piece could be used as a specimen or in a piece of jewelry. Thank you for your consideration. This amber will ship worldwide. I will combine items to save on shipping for up to a 7 day period and usually ship within a 24 hour period.
Please note that thesaltwater test to identify real from fake amber is not reliable. The saltwatertest claims that real amber will float in saltwater while fake amber will sink.
However, many ambersources or even specimens will not float in saltwater as their botanical(plant) composition as well as fossil inclusions are such that they are moredense than saltwater and so sink. I do not sell fake amber. My response shouldhelp demonstrate this.
