This patch is far more than an element of a military uniform. It is a relic of true, unyielding defiance and the fight for Ukraine's existence. Handed over personally by the deputy commander of the unit (callsign - Bull), this insignia stands as a silent witness to the extraordinary heroism of volunteer warriors whose very name evokes deep respect among brothers-in-arms and sheer terror among the enemy.

A History Forged in Fire: Volunteer Unit "Freikorps"

• Formation and Ideology:

Founded in May 2017 by ideological Ukrainian patriots and veterans, the movement's roots are closely tied to the Azov movement, veterans of the "Azov" Regiment, and the national liberation struggle. The name Freikorps ("Free Corps") reflects the tradition of volunteer military formations—warriors who take up arms at the call of their hearts without waiting for formal orders or bureaucracy.

• Combat Path Prior to 2022 (Terror for Occupiers and the Bane of "DPR" Militias):

From its inception, Freikorps fighters conducted multiple rotations in the ATO/JFO zones across Donbas. Operating on the hottest sectors of the frontline, they mercilessly eliminated "DPR/LPR" militants and Russian mercenaries. In Russia and among proxy forces, Freikorps gained a reputation of fierce hatred—for years, these highly skilled and fearless volunteer hunters denied the enemy a single moment of peace on Ukrainian soil.

• Legendary Defense and Counteroffensive in Kharkiv Region (2022):

From the very first minutes of the full-scale invasion on February 24, 2022, Freikorps became a crucial backbone force in the defense of Kharkiv.

  • Its fighters participated in neutralizing Russian special forces that breached into School No. 134 on Shevchenko Street.

  • They cleared the Kharkiv Forest Park of enemy elements.

  • Alongside adjacent units, they dealt severe counterstrikes and spearheaded the liberation of strategic settlements like Mala Rohan and Vilkhivka.

• Commanders and Heroes:

One of the founders and commanders of the unit was Heorhii Tarasenko (callsign "Zhora")—a true Knight and Warrior who defended Ukraine from 2014. On March 25, 2022, during the assault to liberate Mala Rohan, Heorhii led his assault group from the front and gave his life in battle as a Hero. For his unprecedented bravery, Heorhii Tarasenko was posthumously awarded the highest national honor—the title of Hero of Ukraine.

Despite losing their commander, the unit maintained its ranks, continuing its combat operations and exacting vengeance for its leader.

• Legacy and Present Day (3rd Separate Assault Brigade):

Today, the combat legacy and hardened spirit of Freikorps live on. A significant number of the unit's fighters and veterans transitioned to the ranks of the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade (3rd SAB, AFU)—the legendary formation incinerating enemy forces along the most intense sectors of the front.

Heraldry and Symbolism:

• Top Inscription: Features the status "ДОБРОВОЛЬЧИЙ ПІДРОЗДІЛ" (Volunteer Unit), with the unit's name "ФРАЙКОР" emblazoned directly below.

• Central Emblem: Inside a central diamond sits the traditional monogram "Idea of the Nation" (IN). Behind it are two crossed swords pointing downward—a symbol of constant combat readiness, resolute defense of the Fatherland, and a striking sword for invaders.

• Trident: The Ukrainian Trident (Tryzub) is placed at the base, emphasizing unwavering loyalty to the Ukrainian State.

This patch is a genuine artifact of modern military valor. All proceeds from its sale at sale will directly support Ukrainian forces on the frontline.
