Vintage Couroc of Monterey Hand-Inlaid Black Bowls / Plates – Set of 6
Up for sale is a rare, complete set of 6 vintage Couroc of Monterey 8.5-inch rimmed bowls / shallow plates made in California during the Mid-Century Modern era. Known for their proprietary black phenolic resin construction, Couroc pieces are highly durable and famously heat, acid, and alcohol resistant.
Each bowl in this collection features a unique hand-inlaid motif crafted from wood, brass, and metallic accents:
California Roadrunner
California Quail
Owl on Branch
Mouse
Adobo Cabin / House with Ladder
Stylized Bird
Highlights & Condition Details:
Size: Measures approximately 8.5" in diameter and 1.25"" in depth (perfect for individual salads, pasta, or serving dips/nuts).
Labels: Highly collectible state — ALL 6 bowls have their original Couroc gold foil sticker intact on the base.
Condition: Outstanding estate find. They appear unused for eating (no heavy utensil cut marks). Light surface hairline scratches/scuffs are present on the glossy black finish, typical of improper stacking or cabinet storage over the decades. Gloss remains strong, and inlay details are sharp and clear.
