Up for your consideration is a stunning Native American Navajo Rug dating from the late 1890’s-1900. This was picked up by my Grandfather somewhere in his many travels. He was a British Military Officer during World War II and later a Diplomat. This has been displayed in my fishing cottage for many years. It does have a large number of small holes and it could use a cleaning. I in my opinion do not think the holes detract from the piece. You don’t really notice the holes. It’s quite common on a true working saddle blanket. Most of the rugs in my collection have holes of different sizes. The colors are very vibrant for its age and it displays beautifully. It’s a large Chiefs rug and is a very rare piece. Even with the holes it’s one of the better pieces in my collection. This rare vintage Navajo Native American transitional rug, made around 1900, measures 71" by 37". The rug originates from the Western United States, specifically the Navajo region. Handmade by a lost-to-time artisan, this piece showcases traditional Navajo design and tribal affiliation. A valuable collectible item that represents a piece of Native American culture and history from the early 20th century.
