Rare Antique, C.1920/30s Mexican Finely Carved Wood Michoacan Kurpites (or Cúrpites) Dance Mask. The masks depicts the face of a man with texture carved brown hair and a handlebar mustache. This mask was probably used in the Purapecha/Tarascan Danza de los Kurpites, a dance dating back to the 16th century performed by young, unmarried men as a courtship ritual. A wire string is attached on the back for wall hanging.
Dimensions: 7"H x 4.875"W x 3.125"Depth.
Condition:Very good condition. Areas of paint loss and small hairline underneath the chin, see photos.
