Up for sale is a highly scarce, authentic piece of 1960s Vietnam War-era radical political ephemera. This bright orange paper subscription flyer and donation form was issued by the US Committee to Aid the NLF-SV (National Liberation Front of South Vietnam), operating out of the Old Chelsea Station in New York City.Unlike mainstream anti-war literature focused purely on peace rallies, this fringe committee explicitly distributed materials to provide the North Vietnamese and NLF viewpoint to the American public.Visual & Text Features:
- Graphic Art: Features a striking, high-contrast black graphic on the left depicting a Vietnamese woman/fighter in a traditional headscarf/conical hat.
- Typography: Uses a distinct, bold retro stencil font for the "Vietnam Courier" heading.
- Publications Listed: The flyer acts as an order form for various English-language periodicals published in Hanoi, including Vietnam Courier, Vietnam (Pictorial), Vietnamese Studies, Viet Nam Youth, and Women of Vietnam.
- Mail-In Form: The lower third contains the intact clip-out coupon to send mail orders and financial contributions to committee secretary "J. JAFFE."
Collector's Note on Rarity:As thin, colored-paper ephemera intended to be cut up and mailed away, very few of these flyers survived the era intact. Most surviving examples are preserved exclusively in university research archives (such as NYU's Tamiment Library). An unclipped, fully intact original in private hands is exceptionally rare, making this a premier addition to any advanced Militaria, Anti-War Movement, or 20th-century political history collection.Specifications:
