Known as (O-92), this exceptional image of Lincoln was taken by photographer Anthony Berger at Mathew Brady’s National Photographic Portrait Gallery in Washington D.C. on February 9, 1864. The photo used as the basis for the engraved portrait of Abraham Lincoln on the old $5 dollar bill (used from 1914 until roughly 2000) is Ostendorf no. 92.
