A contemporary artistic piece inspired by the historical narrations of the bowl from which water was presented to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ by the companion Sahl ibn Sa‘d (may Allah be pleased with him).
This work was meticulously handcrafted in our workshop from finely engraved copper and plated with silver to highlight the intricate Islamic motifs. The interior is carefully reinforced with securely fixed wood for durability and stability.
Diameter: 17 cm.
Due to the precision of the engraving and the density of the decorative and calligraphic details, this piece required extensive time and careful craftsmanship to complete.
The bowl features Ottoman-style documentary inscriptions, including the main text:
“Praise be to Allah. This noble cup… was transferred to the Holy House in Jerusalem… in one of the months of the year 920 AH.”
Surrounding it is a fine secondary inscription containing invocations and a historical-style chain of transmission:
“Guardian of the Sham Kingdom, may Allah grant victory to his supporters… This is the vessel of our Master Muhammad ﷺ, carried by Sahl ibn Sa‘d… then transferred to Jerusalem and later deposited in the Ottoman Imperial Court, may Allah preserve it and perpetuate its glory.”
Historical narrations indicate that the original vessel was preserved in the household of Lady Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) and Imam Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), then by Al-Hasan and Al-Husayn (may Allah be pleased with them), passing through generations of the Prophet’s family. It is also reported that it was silver-covered in the 16th century and transferred between major Islamic centers over time.
This is not an original historical relic, but a finely crafted contemporary artistic piece inspired by Islamic heritage, combining traditional Arabic calligraphy, historical narrative style, and high-level handmade craftsmanship — making it a distinguished display piece for collectors of Islamic art.
