VERY RARE vintage Peter Rabbitadvertising store model, featuring the children's story character wearing his light blue coat with red buttons, running on a grassy knoll! Itstands 15 3/8" tall by 8 1/2" long andwould have sat on the counter of a bookstore selling Beatrix Potter books in the 1950s.
It is made of an early type of rubber compound with nylon whiskers and a woven sun hat (the hat may or may not be original to the piece, but it's obvious that they've been together a long time). The paint is in good condition with craquelure and minimal ware. There are no repairs.
It is marked "PETER RABBIT" on three sides of the base and "Frederick Warne & Co. Ltd./London England" on the back. The original label "Made by NEDUS, Ltd./Surrey England" label is inside along with the remnants of a gift tag.
