Fine matching pair of antique English solid brass candlesticks dating to the early Victorian period, circa 1840–1860. Each stands approximately 10 1/4" tall and features a substantial clipped-corner base supporting an elegantly turned architectural stem with a succession of baluster and geometric knops, terminating in a cylindrical candle socket with broad drip pan. Both retain their early internal push-up candle ejector mechanisms, visible from the undersides. The brass has developed an attractive aged surface with areas of oxidation and verdigris underneath, consistent with considerable age and use. A handsome and substantial pair of genuine 19th-century English brass candlesticks.
